All is Well!

So after one long week filled with illness, this one has been much nicer! Colin and I even traveled to the beach alone today! It was so nice, beautiful weather and he had so much fun...he quickly got over the "sand in his toes" issue and loved running and playing in the sand...but his favorite part of the day was standing and cheering on a group of high school boys play football! He just watched them for minutes, clapping and imitating them, it was so cute! Of course the camera was in the bag and not in my hands, in fact I only got one picture on my cell phone. He truly had so much fun, I kept thinking that in my head, he is so happy right now...what a good feeling to have as a mom!

P.S. Grampy and Sydney are home and doing well, thanks for your thoughts everyone...Lots of love!

What a Week!

So I am pretty glad this week is just about done and I am hoping next week brings sunshine! It started off Monday evening when my Dad was rushed to the emergency room. He was getting up from his chair to walk to his bedroom when his legs began to give out and he grabbed the wall. My mom didn't get a response from him when she called his name so she shimmied him onto their bed and took his blood pressure - 80/20 and fixed pupils- needless to say 911 was called and he was brought to the ER. His speech was slightly slurred according to the paramedic and the ER doctor did tell my mom that his left eyelid and left lip were drooping slightly...however after spending the night they "determined" that they were too aggressive in raising his blood pressure medication last month because his Digoxin level was high, no brain bleed, no congestive heart failure...when I saw him Tuesday morning he was so swollen, it was weird...they sent him home after about 48 hours and he seems to be doing OK. Was really weak, but getting better...they have a follow up with his cardiologist and he had a stress test done last month which they don't have the results for yet, so hopefully all arteries are OK! My mom is convinced that an "event" occurred, a TIA, and I guess that what her gut is telling her, I guess her nursing gut that is! Then when I talked with my mom this morning come to find out that my 3 year old niece was in the ER at 1:00 this morning with a bad asthma attack...3 nebulizer treatments at home and 5 albuterol treatments in the hospital and she was sent home with Prednisone! Poor little thing! So hopefully all will be quiet here for a while!

Happy Mother's Day!

Colin, someday I hope you will read this...you have made my life so full - your laugh, your smile, your hugs and kisses, your "yuv you's", and your eagerness to learn about life are the most amazing gifts you could give me this Mother's Day! I am so grateful that you are a healthy and happy little boy! I love you Colin!

Ryan - thank you for being such an amazing husband and father! I couldn't do it without you - we are a great team! I love you!

The weekend was wonderful...Friday was spent at a museum/interactive play place with Shelby and Charlotte, Saturday spent with Shelby, Michael, Kelly, Dave and all the kiddos for a cookout and then Sunday we traveled to the beach for a couple of hours...we had a great day! Happy Mother's Day to all my family and friends!

Wow, what a big helper on mother's day - emptying the dishwasher!

All the kiddos!

Happy Mother's Day everyone!
Mmmm...I am not sure about this sand thing on my toes!

I love you Colin!

Can't have a day at the beach without some wiffle ball!

Beautiful May!

What a great start to the month! Beautiful weather and no ear infections - who could ask for more! The weekend was great...it started Friday with a trip to the park and a run in with an old friend who I grew up with and went to college with. She just recently moved in with her mom who lives nearby and is waiting to buy a home. (Becca - it was Patty!) It was so funny and so nice to catch up with her! Saturday we spent some time at the 2nd Annual Kidsfest in town and despite the very crowded streets Colin seemed to enjoy himself, especially walking through the "Candyland"! Sunday Mommy played soccer and then we had a quick visit from Auntie Beth and Sam (who I couldn't get over the latest fashion, a jean miniskirt and pink leggings, she looked so cute and so grown up!). Today Mommy and Daddy took Colin to the pediatrician for his 18 month checkup. After a long hour wait to see the doctor (I guess there was something going on with a patient), a couple of tantrums regarding wanting to walk out the door and up the stairs, we had a great check up! Colin's ears are clear and he is a healthy little boy! Three shots later, a cool bandaid, and a Cookie Monster and Elmo sticker we were good to go. All this on 30 minutes of a morning nap! That's one thing he can't decide - one nap or two? It's been an ongoing month long thing of back and forth between one and two naps a day...it's funny when he is in his crib and not sleeping it sounds like he is having so much fun, like his imagination is just going wild - talking, laughing...!

Funny Day!

So today started out like any other Wednesday. Daddy leaves for work and Mommy heads out the door with Colin. Well his new thing is that he has carry his blankie with him as he walks to the car. Well the blanket is about as big as he is and he tends to drag it on the ground...so as I am helping him by adjusting the blanket on his shoulder he begins to struggle thinking I am taking it away...so eventually that is settled and I say "Colin time to go play at Patty's" He is thinking "no Mommy it is time to play in the grass as he walks in the opposite direction of the car"...so a couple of "Colin time to get in the car" which didn't do anything and I decide to scoop him up...Colin - struggling and beginning to scream, Mommy - anxious all the neighbors will be awoken at 6:30 a.m. to his screams. So I put him down and he dilly dally's pointing to the letter O's on the license plates...scoop him up again and struggle to get him in the car seat. DONE! Get to day care and he wants to eat, put him in the high chair and he starts to eat and waves at me saying "Byeee"...Really he was saying "get out of here Mommy I have had enough of you!" No bad reports from daycare, of course! However when I got home from work tonight, Ryan had a lot to share...now usually I am the one that Colin struggles with, however Daddy got his fair share today! He certainly tested us today! He has such a mind of his own sometimes and definitely inherited both of our stubborness!
