...are getting so big...This month has been a busy and eventful one. So many exciting things have happened with the boys. Colin decided last week that he was ready to use the potty. I think it was earning the Marvel Comic Superhero card packs that included a figuring that helped, but anyhow he did it! He has even used the "big" potty at a restaurant and today in Border's...I wasn't there today, but Ryan described it as "Daddy, Daddy I need to pee on the potty" really loud. Ryan was checking out the CD's about 50 feet from Colin...so cute! He has even pooped twice! I am so proud of him! In addition to potty training, we couldn't find his "mama" one night last week. Really we couldn't find it...he slept fine that night, so he has been without his pacifier too...I can't believe it, I thought this would be so hard to do, let alone both things at once! He is so big, something has changed, his imagination is expanding, and he just seems like a little boy, not so much even a toddler anymore...It's so hard to believe that Brendan is now 8 months...holy cow, can't even believe he's 4 months away from 1!!! He is doing so well too, we started Early Intervention, he is finally rolling and enjoying playing on his belly. He is now able to sit up and play with a toy if it's big and spreads his legs...and last night was the first night we felt comfortable having him sit up in the baby tub...He is sleeping in his crib finally and doing better at night...now only if he would stop teething...He has 8 teeth now and I swear it looks like he is cutting molars...so my boys are roommates now, Colin has done so well with the change too...I have to download recent pictures, but wanted to get my thoughts down because time just feels like it is zipping by...love to all!

Winter Time Fun!

Colin and I started the New Year with some winter time fun - sledding with the new sled Santa brought! I don't know who was more excited - me or Colin. We went to the Common, where I grew up sledding. It was a beautiful day, we packed up, dressed warmly and were off. When we got there he seemed pretty excited, I was a bit nervous looking at the hill. It is amazing how fearless you can be as a kid...So off we went, the conditions were perfect, Colin in the front, Mommy in the back...but Mommy was a little nervous and let her heels trail in the snow which equaled snow sprayed right in Colin's face...when we got the bottom of the hill, he seemed OK, was laughing, but when I asked him if he wanted to do it again, he said "no Mommy, let's go take a little break"...Because we were in NR, my mom stopped by to visit...Colin found a little hill and I pulled him down...now I was determined to get him down again..."no Mommy, I want the little hill"...that is until big cousin Maddy walked over with her sled...she had the magic and we moved to the other side of the big hill and went down several more times...it was sooooo fun! Uncle Michael and their dog Manning even walked over and the dog loved running with me down the hill...Colin lasted about an hour and then we had some hot chocolate at Auntie Kimmie's and Uncle Michael's and played the Wii...Can't wait to do it again!

Happy New Year! Wow it's hard to believe I wrote that already...this year just went by so fast and so much happened...I am most thankful for the birth of Brendan and watching our family grow not only in number, but in love...it was also a difficult time losing our Uncle Rob...the holidays have been bittersweet...we know he is looking down on us, celebrating with us, laughing with us when the kids do something funny, and always, always loving us. Here's hoping 2009 brings love, peace, good health, and happiness to all my family and friends...Happy New Year to all!

A bit of a late post, but better late than never! We had a great holiday. Christmas Eve was spent at Grammy and Grampy's house with all the cousins...except Casey this year :(:(...she was very sick with the stomach flu and wasn't able to make it :(...definitely wasn't the same...we went to church first and the kids did OK...had dinner, changed into the new Christmas PJ's and then opened presents...Brendan missed most of the excitement, he was sleeping, but big brother Colin did a great job helping to open his presents! We went to bed very late, woke up the next morning and Santa had arrived! Colin loved every minute...it was so fun this year! Brendan loved the excitement too, but conked out and opened his presents later in the morning...we played, relaxed, took naps, and then my mom and dad came for dinner...can't believe it's come and gone, but it was a very special Christmas!

Tis' the Season!

WOW! What a whirlwind month this has been...we can't believe Christmas is just a day away...we are pretty much all set and patiently awaiting the arrival of the man in the red suit...we have had a great time this month and here are just a few of the highlights!

Santa visited Mommy's work and brought all the kids presents!

We made Christmas trees with Grammy and cousin Sydney using sugar cones, green frosting, gum drops, and m&m's...YUM!

We visited the Zoo Lights and Colin got a glimpse of his very favorite Christmas character - the Grinch!

We even saw one of Santa's real reindeers!

We drank hot chocolate and decorated the tree...

And we had breakfast with Santa too...Brendan did NOT like Santa this year!

Speaking of our little guy Brendan, we can't believe he's already 7 months old...he now has 6 teeth (four on the bottom and the two top) and loves to eat! He's slowly gaining more weight and will soon begin Early Intervention to get stronger and before we know it he'll be chasing his big brother! His smiles are contagious and he loves his big brother to death!

We are so, so lucky to have such amazing family and friends who have been so supportive the past couple of months...the holidays are sort of bittersweet, but we know our Uncle Rob is smiling down upon us and in a better place, pain free!

We love you Colin and Brendan and can't wait to see your faces on Christmas morning!!!!!!!

Exciting Firsts!

The past 24 hours have been very exciting for Colin...yesterday at his request he pooped in the potty for the first time!!! And from that point on he has been going pee fairly regularly! Saturday I forgot to put a pull up on him before putting his pants on and he accidentally peed in his pants...he hated the feeling, so I think that's what maybe started the toilet trend! And....today he had his first visit to the dentist...of course I forgot my camera....he did so well, sort of gagged when the lady put the mirror in his mouth, but in the end he let her get some tartar off and polish them...only a few tears...he looked so scared and was trying so hard to keep his nerves in check...the look on his face was priceless...Mommy was so proud!

This little guy arrived on Thanksgiving...he's keeping an eye on the boys and reporting back to Santa each night...Colin is getting a big kick out of it, he loves to find him in the morning and he sure has ended up in some silly places! It's Been A While...

...since I last posted. Unfortunately at the beginning of the month our Uncle Rob passed away after a very brave battle with cancer. He was a very, very special person in our life...he taught me more about life, faith, and love and I will always be grateful for that. I hope to instill those values in my son's lives to the best of my ability. His funeral was amazing and I met so many people whose lives he touched, so many. I am grateful to everyone who sent kind words and prayers it's been a difficult time, but hopefully the special memories we have will help us through...the weekend after his funeral we spent time trying to distract ourselves and went to pick a pumpkin, but the bees were horrible, so we decided to spend the afternoon at the beach. It was beautiful. We had lunch outside, played at the playground, and walked...it was very peaceful...

We also had our annual Reeves bonfire...it was a blast...thanks Kelly and Dave, Mason and Brodie!

Fall, Family, and Five Months!

Well it's been a while since I last posted...I finally downloaded our apple picking/hay ride pictures...we had a blast. Colin loved the whole day despite having a nasty virus (roseola??) that lasted the entire week. We got home that day and his fever was 103! It took an entire week for him to be back to normal. Luckily Brendan didn't get it...He slept most of the time as you can see from the pictures. Can't believe it's October in two days - Colin is turning 3!!!! Where does the time go????? We have also spent a lot of time with family this month. My Uncle Rob finally went into hospice last week. We had a wonderful get together a few Sundays ago, everyone was there even my cousins from CA. It was a very special day. I visited with him Friday and he has really failed, not eating, becoming confused, etc. We had a really wonderful conversation and many tears were shed, but I won't forget the words we shared. He helped me a lot! And little Brendan is 20 weeks tomorrow! We went to the doctors a few weeks ago and he didn't grow as much as they had hoped so we go back for a weight check in a few weeks...we will also see his GI doctor then too, just to make sure everything is OK. We started cereal and he seemed to like it and was doing well taking it in, just not so lucky with the digestion part. Exactly 4 hours after giving it to him he would wake up screaming, so we are holding off until we see the doctor. They are also just keeping an eye on his muscle tone...he was a little slow with the head control and his shoulder girdles are lax, and his pediatrician agreed so we'll see how he is in a few weeks...he seems to be doing much better...so that's about it...enjoy the pictures!

We Did It!

We all survived the start of daycare...Brendan had a great day, Mommy didn't cry or throw up all day, and of course Daddy was cool as a cucumber...Colin did fairly well with the whole thing...except having to give up his pack and play for Brendan. My mom bought him the cutest nap mat for "back to school" that he picked out, it had his name, an attached pillow and all sorts of trucks on it. We had it with us and he had to carry it into daycare all by himself and he immediately unfolded it and showed Patty his new "pack and play". He seemed so excited about it...However when it came time to actually sleep on it - no go...So we'll have to work on it. My heart sort of breaks for him...all those changes, sharing, etc...and we sent a potty to daycare for him...I am sure it will get better with time. Overall a good day!

p.s. I admit I watched most of the 90210 premiere...anyone else??????

Dear Brendan,
Tomorrow is a bittersweet day. It is your first day of daycare. I thought it would be easier the second time around, it is in a way, but there is still a small knot in my stomach. You have grown so much in the past 3 1/2 months. You're getting stronger, smiling up a storm, talking in your own little language with such a sweet voice, eating like a champ, and sleeping better. You have made such a difference in all of our lives, Mommy's, Daddy's, and your brother Colin's. I know you will be OK at daycare, I know you will learn a ton, and grow in so many ways, but I still wish I could be there to share it with you. I can't wait for the day until you can tell me stories about your day, about your friends, and about how much fun you had. For now I will take all the smiles to reassure me that you are OK. I know that your big brother will look out for you and he can certainly put a smile on your face. I love you sunshine! Mommy

What a big boy you have become this summer. You have handled so many changes, especially the addition of your brother, so easily. You have grown, your say the funniest things, and you love to do things independently. I loved being home with you this summer. I treasured every second of it, knowing it would come to an end...back to daycare you go, I kind of wish you were going to preschool this year, but I am also very glad you will be with your brother. I know you will always look out for him, protect him, teach him things, and love him. Vacation in Maine

We just returned from a week's vacation in Maine...it was so, so fantastic...we couldn't have asked for better weather, the kids loved every minute, Ryan and I did too, and we created some very special memories...this is our fourth year doing it and we have decided each year gets better and better and we are definitely going to make it an annual thing...Colin said some of the cutest things and seems to have grown up even more in a week...Brendan loved being outside and sitting looking at the ocean...all in all it was a blast and here are a few highlights...now back to work for Mommy...

Future Olympian

I don't know about you, but we have enjoyed watching the Olympics. Colin loves to watch the games and then re-enact the events...you know "bolleyball", soccer, and this one...can you guess which event this is?????

Yes, that would be "sword fighting" (a.k.a. fencing which I am desperately trying to get him to call it, sounds much nicer than sword fighting!). Today he was in the kitchen and found his sword - yes a small whisk!

That's What Friends Are For...

I am truly blessed to have these ladies in my life...It's been 11 years since we left college and we still manage to get together twice a year...this summer's get together was an unexpected one, but it was a blast! We managed to have thirteen kids and six adults in our townhouse without any major catastrophes! I hope that we are doing this ten, twenty, and even thirty years from now...these ladies and their families mean the world to me and I am very lucky to be able to share my life with them!!!! Love you girls!!!

Three Months Old and A First!

No Brendan didn't roll over although he is working really hard to these days, BUT he is sleeping in his bassinet and has been since 12:30 (it's now 3:30)! For us this is a huge step since he has only wanted to nap in his swing, his car seat in the swing attachment, or his favorite place - our arms and the bassinet isn't a preferred place of sleep for the litte guy! We have only had to re-binkie him a few times and he has put himself back to sleep...Who knows, probably won't happen again, but we will celebrate when we can!!!! On another note, Colin and I had a date last night...we went out for ice cream, just he and I...I have been feeling like we needed some time alone and we had a blast...m&m with jimmies for him and turtle house for Mommy! It's hard to believe three months ago Brendan arrived, it's just gone by too fast...I know that everyone says that, but this time it feels like it gone by much faster than with Colin...I am so looking forward to the next three months and the changes that will take place, most especially the changes with the interaction between Colin and Brendan...already Brendan is watching Colin walk around the room and Colin is loving the fact that Brendan now responds with a smile...I can't imagine the day when they are truly "playing" together!

Birthdays and Boo-Boo's

My favorite - gerber daises...these were from Ryan, Colin and Brendan for my birthday, such sweet guys! The day was pretty low key - some pizza and birthday cake - YUM! Ryan and I were planning on going out for a nice dinner Saturday night, BUT this happened instead:

Yes, that is Brendan's head. We all went for a walk before Colin's naptime and I had but Brendan into his car seat and he was sleeping so as not to disturb him I didn't buckle him in (bad Mommy). We plopped him into the stroller and went for walk. When we got home I went in the house first with Colin and Ryan was bringing the entire stroller/car seat contraption up the two front steps and into the house. My back was turned and all I heard was "oh my god" and saw Ryan lifting Brendan off the ground...yes, my little guy fell out of the car seat and onto the front walkway. We are not sure exactly where he fell out from because Ryan was trying to get the stroller up and over the steps and was looking at the stroller wheels. In complete panic mode I called the pediatrician and was going to wait for a call back, however in the meantime Ryan said it was starting to swell, so we just left for the ER. Colin was a bit scared and cried a little, but he was a trooper and quickly got his blankies, binky and ran into the car - he also got to have a great playdate with his cousins so he was happy! After the ER doctor consulted with the head ER doctor and also Brendan's pediatrician they decided that since he was asymptomatic of a concussion and it looked more like an abrasion and he had no other bodily injuries they would not do a Cat Scan and avoid the radiation...He just has a very nasty boo-boo on his head and we are to watch him closely for the next 24 hours...So please all parents buckle your kids into their car seats no matter what, we have learned our lesson!

A couple of recent pictures of Brendan...he's full of smiles these days...he's also making more noises, loves when we make funny faces, loves bright colored picture books, and his bathtime! Latest stats - 11 lbs. & 11 oz.; 23 inches! Can't believe he will be 3 months next Tuesday...

Poor Colin woke up Friday morning with "pink eye"...he was miserable and doesn't like the ointment so much :(...It's much better, but it meant a low key weekend with lots and lots of hand sanitizer!

It's been a busy month and we are looking forward to our vacation in a few weeks...it will nice to get away. I am feeling better, still sore at times and I can't lift heavy things yet, but I am pretty much able to eat again (ice cream, chips, etc. etc.!)

Surgery

Well, I survived...I had my gall bladder out on Tuesday, all went fine, I survived general anesthesia and I am now just trying to not cough or laugh too hard...It's been a bit of a challenge not being able to lift Brendan, but Ryan has been amazing taking care of all 3 of us! Hopefully things will continue to go well and I will be back to normal soon!

Out and About

We tried to make sure we were out and about this weekend since the weather was beautiful and I may be cooped up for a bit after Tuesday...we spent Saturday at the playgroud and then Sunday we traveled to Newburyport. It was beautiful and Colin loved seeing the boats. There is also a small hidden play structure in downtown that is shaded which was great. Brendan even loved the fresh air. The pain hasn't been that bad, just a dull ache from time to time and not much of an appetite...I call it the gall bladder diet - lots of fat free and bland food!

We received an informational pamphlet from the surgeon yesterday and Colin found it quite fascinating...it was hysterical he kept asking questions about the pictures...I snapped these pictures at dinner...who knows maybe he'll attend medical school someday!

It's Coming Out

Surgery is on for Tuesday to remove my gall bladder...the surgeon says that if I am in early enough and things go well I may be able to go home that day...I hope so, I don't want to be away from the kids :(:(!

Fun, Friends, and Fireworks!

Fun and Friends - We had a blast this 4th of July...we saw a fantastic parade that Colin absolutely loved, had some great food, and just relaxed...it was great spending time with wonderful friends and watching the little ones play with one another. Thanks Michael and Shelby for a very memorable holiday, Brendan's 1st! Stupid me didn't get a picture of the boys together on the 4th!

Fireworks - We didn't actually see live fireworks this 4th of July...they actually were occuring inside my stomach. I was awoken out of a deep sleep Friday night with excruciating right sided stomach pain. First I thought it was just the fact that I gorged on so much yummy food Friday. I then thought this is not your ordinary stomach ache, something is wrong, and I thought I had appendicitis. So I ran downstairs and jumped on the computer looking up appendicitis and wondering if I should drive myself to the emergency room. Meanwhile after about an hour the pain subsided...Sunday night at almost the same time it happened again only this time it was much worse. I did actually drive myself to the emergency room which wasn't very smart considering I almost passed out in the parking lot. They did some bloodwork and determined it must be my gall bladder and to follow up with my primary care doctor. I went home and yesterday after a very long day at the hospital it was determined to be "several gall stones"...I have to meet with a surgeon at 8:30 tomorrow morning...so now I am eating a lot of toast and luckily I use fat free cream in my coffee! I guess fatty foods can irritate it...yuck! So hopefully no more of those "attacks" until they determine what to do with my gall bladder!

Summer's Here!

It's hard to believe that it's July 1st tomorrow...and that Brendan has been with us for 7 weeks! He is changing everyday...he is smiling and cooing, he loves looking at his hands, and loves his big brother! Colin will talk to him and he just smiles it's adorable...We had a rough 5 weeks, he has a sensitivity to milk which made feeding him not a pleasant experience, but now that we've been on special formula, he is really coming out of his shell and is having some very happy days! This weekend was pretty low key. Friday Kelly, Adrie, Shelby, Charlotte, and Maeve all came over for lunch. Colin and Charlotte played together for a couple of hours and seemed to have fun. Of course I didn't snap any pictures :(...Saturday was an errand day and Sunday we helped celebrate Rylee's birthday with Sunday brunch. Colin loved the chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and he and Rylee made cupcakes that they then decorated and ate. As you can see from the pictures Colin loved them!

Here comes Colin! After this week's fantastic golf match we decided to venture out for some mini-golf, Colin's first time. Very cute - this picture says it all, he would put the ball at the end of the green, hit it, then run, pick it up and put it about three inches from the hole, then hit it, and jump up and down with excitement. It wasn't too crowded, so there was no waiting which was great, which meant no 2 year old tantrums! We love that!

What a Special Day...

Today we not only celebrated Father's Day, but it was also Brendan's baptism. Despite the slightly rainy weather, the day was perfect. This time last year we weren't sure if Uncle Rob would be alive to baptize Brendan, but thankfully he was...it was also cause for another celebration...Uncle Rob's 71st birthday. All around it was a day filled with love and happiness. We had the baptism in a small chapel at my Uncle's home and we continued the celebration under a heated tent in the yard, it was perfect. Brendan slept during the entire mass including the actual baptism (water on his head). Thanks to Auntie Kim (a.k.a. godmother Kim) for the beautiful handmade baptism sweater, bib, socks, and blanket, he looked like an angel...we are so grateful to have two healthy and happy children, to be surrounded by such loving family, and to have had my Uncle Rob here to baptize Brendan Robert, a day we will hold in our hearts forever.

So today marks a first...a trip to the pediatrician with two children, back to back appointments...Colin has had a low grade temperature going on three days and not eating...and I believe that Brendan is somewhat colicky...I know Colin's will be viral and I know there is no real treatment for colic, but I thought a discussion with the pediatrician might be worth it and to rule out any stomach issues since he appears to be in quite a bit of pain in that area at times...thankfully Ryan will meet me there, not quite sure I could do it myself just yet! So hopefully things will get better...we have Brendan's baptism this Sunday and I want everyone well!!!!

We traveled to the beach today to hopefully escape the heat and meet up with our friends. The trip was fantastic...the kids had a blast and we only managed to get slightly sunburned! But I must say the three newborns were super, they slept, woke up to eat and then went back to sleep again! It was a great day especially spending it with friends!

p.s. I realized when we got home that I didn't get any good pictures...I was having a hard time seeing the screen on my camera at the beach...Shelby and Kelly can't wait to see yours!

It definitely is hard to keep track of time these days...we are settling into life with 2, this week Daddy is back at work full time so Mommy is on her own with the 2 boys four out of five days (Colin still goes to his daycare one day per week). I will let you know how it goes next week wish me luck! Brendan is doing well, a bit of a different eater, but all in all he is a content "little buddy" as Colin has named him! Colin has shown some of his true colors this past weekend - favorite word being "NO" - but he is doing well and loves his little brother...lots of kisses, hugs and he always wants to see what he is doing. I can only imagine that this love will grow as will their relationship, which will be remarkable to watch!

2 Weeks Old!

Hard to believe that another week has gone by. Brendan is doing great, growing like a weed, and pretty easy going so far (except that he loves to eat every 2 hours all day and night long!)...no, he really is a super baby. We had his first doctor's appt. yesterday and all is well. We spent Memorial Day weekend hanging out, going to a cookout, and enjoying the nice weather. Colin especially loved the Memorial Day parade we went to with Grammy and Grampy, the firetrucks were a big hit! It's great to be home during the spring/summer rather than the winter which I was with Colin. It sure does help keep me sane and of course Colin loves it! I haven't downloaded any pics yet from the weekend, but I pulled up these, I can't get over how much Colin and Brendan resemble each other...Colin is on top, Brendan on the bottom...

The first week has been great even with very little sleep. It's funny how quickly it all comes back to you, although Ryan and I did forget how difficult diaper changing a newborn can be! Brendan is doing fantastic, peeing, pooping, sleeping, and eating just as a newborn should. Colin is doing great too and has been really cute with his new little brother. He loves to kiss his head and always asks where he is when he is not in the room...he does show a bit of concern when he cries...my sensitive little guy! I survived a couple of hours alone with the boys yesterday which felt good. Today Colin went back to daycare to play with all his friends and my mom and I ventured out to babies r us which felt good too...enjoy the pics!

Happy Mother's Day to my family and friends...I hope you all had some special time with those you love! I was thinking of you all today... Ryan and Colin made me a delicious breakfast and then we spent the morning at the park enjoying the beautiful weather. It's official, Baby #2 is definitely quite content inside my very large belly. As of Friday it was measuring 8lbs. 12 oz. - uggh! The plan is to call tomorrow morning by 6 a.m. to see when they can take me in...as of Friday they had to bump a lot of people throughout the week due to the fact that they were backed up on the Maternity ward. So, our fingers are crossed that we'll be there early to begin the induction. We'll try and keep everyone posted! Again Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!! XXOO

So no baby yet. I have my regular Friday appt.'s tomorrow where we'll get an idea of the size, etc. I have had the week off and Colin and I have been spending lots of time outdoors enjoying the great weather and each other - alone before the little one arrives. We have been busy this week and it finally caught up with me today, the muscles and ligaments in my lower abdomen were killing me! I was really hoping playing soccer and baseball at the playground would have started things, but it just made me sore! I was also hoping that the Italian sub and pedicure I got today would have done it, but not yet! Ryan and I are getting more and more anxious to meet this little one...soon I hope!

Boston, Births, and Communions!

First, CONGRATULATIONS to my wonderful friends, Shelby and Kelly, on the birth of Maeve Katherine and Adrie May! It was a very busy Friday evening and Saturday morning up in the state of NH! We love you guys! Saturday morning we traveled into the Boston Children's Museum which was a blast! The exhibits were just perfect for Colin, he loved the bubbles, the balls, the market, but most of all the construction site. We had a great morning and it was wonderful spending special time before the baby arrives.

Sunday we celebrated my niece and goddaughter Samantha's first communion. She looked beautiful and it was a very nice day with family!

I am officially done with work and just waiting to go into labor...absolutely nothing had changed in three weeks, this baby is quite comfortable where he/she is! So the plan is to be induced Monday the 12th if nothing happens before then...please feel free to leave a comment about any tricks that have sparked labor for you...except spicy food, still can't tolerate that!

and still no baby! What a great week, the weather was beautiful, finally time spent outdoors, and of course not a picture to show of it! I forgot my camera with every outing we went on, so here are a few pictures from a recent birthday party we went to at The Little Gym (very fun!)...

and our first official movie night...the Jungle Book was the feature film and Colin thought it was great to be able to have a popsicle while lying on the couch cushions on the floor - not that we haven't done it before, but calling it "movie night" made it extra special!

Daddy had the week off, so he is in a bit of depression today...he and Colin spent some very quality time together and played lots of baseball and went to lots of playgrounds. Mommy had to work - only three days left. Thursday is officially my last day if I don't go into labor before then :)...The plan is 2 more weeks and if nothing happens - induction. So it's just a waiting game now! It's official, I was eating a bagel last night and the plate rested quite nicely on my "shelf"! I must say my flip-flop obsession is in full swing...I love flip-flops and I love that since the weather has been somewhat warm I can begin wearing them...and when you are 8 1/2 months pregnant it's an even better excuse to wear them!

What's New

It's been a while since my last post and unfortunately I don't have any new pictures to post...hopefully we'll get some good ones of our little guy this week enjoying the warm weather. Colin has been great, very happy, what more could a Mom ask for? This weekend Mommy spent Saturday walking (or attempting to!) in the MS walk for Shelby, one of my very special friends from college. The weather turned out beautiful and raised a lot of money...thank you to my family and friends who donated and who know Shelby, it means a lot, anything we can do to support her means so much! I love you Shelby! You can still donate online by linking to the Ronan's blog...Sunday we hung around and did stuff around the house. I had a visit with my Uncle Rob while Colin was napping which is always very special. I cherish the visits more than ever these days. On the baby front, as of Friday's visits I had a normal non-stress test with some contractions (didn't feel them), the baby was measuring 7 pounds, my fluid levels are still hovering on the high normal side, and the baby looked great on ultrasound. I did have a "real" contraction Friday afternoon that actually stopped me in my tracks, but no more like that since then...Monday's appointment - not much has changed! I was convinced I was going to be dilated, but no go...my OB said a lot of women will get increased Braxton Hicks when they have increased fluid levels which must be the case! All of the end of pregnancy things are happening, especially the inability to sleep...can't get comfortable, mind racing, heartburn...it's funny how they prepare you for those months that lie ahead :)

On another very sad note, my good friend Amy, also from college, lost her dad very suddenly last week. Your prayers would be a blessing during this difficult time...Amy I am constantly thinking about you and if you need anything just call...

Great Weekend...

Since we had a change in plans for Saturday we decided to spend most of the day with Colin and doing fun things with him since the rest of April is pretty busy...we planned on going to Portsmouth to the Children's museum, but with the rain we decided to stay local. So what did we do? We headed to the mall! Kind of cheesy, but we did do the whole Build a Bear thing (made Wally the Green Monster of course!), went to all the sports stores, saw the puppies (poor things), rode the cars, and went to the restaurant for lunch...Colin had a blast. He was so happy and it was nice just to be with him and not think about anything that needed to be done at home. We ended the day with a trip for ice cream, another favorite of Colin's (and Mommy's!). It's an emotional time thinking that all of our attention won't be with him...I know parents do it all the time and their kids are just fine, but I also know that it must be hard at the beginning. We also continued getting things ready for the baby, basically just doing a lot of laundry. I am in definite nesting mode. It was fun to see the little onsies again! It feels like yesterday Colin was wearing them. Today we spent the day at home and then we had a sitter come by so we could go to a wake. With the exception of that it was a fantastic weekend and hopefully we'll be able to do it again before baby #2 comes along!

Star Sighting!

Fridays are the day I go for my weekly non-stress test and Level 2 ultrasound and appointment with the high risk OB. I went for the non stress test which is in Labor and Delivery and I was running a little late for the next scheduled appt. with the OB. I left Labor and Delivery and went donw the hall to meet Ryan for our next appt. The doctors office is located behind a small family waiting area that most families whose loved ones are in labor wait...So I rush in and go through the waiting area to check in with the receptionist. The waiting area was pretty full, but I didn't notice anything. Until Ryan mentioned that Paul Pierce (current Celtics player) was in the waiting area! Then I loudly blurt out "what Paul Pierce is out there"!...so I check in and we go back and wait in the waiting room just a foot or so away from Paul Pierce...he was just playing cards with what I think was a family member. I guess someone was joking around with him that "they don't even let stars in for the epidural", so I am assuming he was having a baby today! Kind of a funny thing...my star sighting!

The Celtics left for Charlotte a little after 3 p.m., but Pierce and Landrum are waiting on the birth of their first child and team spokesman Jeff Twiss said, “He elected not to take the flight for obvious reasons.”

Oh, baby Snyder is great, GROWING (as of last Friday 5lbs. 5oz.), and things are status quo!

Our Easter festivities began Saturday with a trip to visit the Easter bunny who made an appearance at Uncle Michael's police department kid's party and then the second annual painting of the belly's occurred at our house later on that day. My very good friends Kelly and Shelby are both due within days of me and they traveled down for our painting session, some yummy food, and a nice relaxing pedicure. The guys held down the fort with the kids and had a good time themselves. This is the second time we have been able to do it (the first being pumpkin bellies) and I must say I think the eggs top the pumpkin bellies! The kids even posed for a picture too! It was a very special day and one never to be forgotten!

Colin woke up and we began our Easter Sunday...as we walked down the stairs he found his basket on the dining room table and was quite excited! After looking through that he found all the eggs that the bunny hid around the house...and there's nothing better than M&M's and a loolipop all before 8:30 a.m.! We headed to church which was the first time we've attended near our house...it's my sister's parish and they have a family mass which is so great for the kids...Colin did great, so hopefully we'll keep it up! Actually when I went up for communion the priest noticed I was pregnant and blessed me which was very nice....then as the mass is wrapping up he began talking about how there is woman out there pregnant and due it May, "could she please stand up?"...I must have turned five shades of red, but I managed to stand up, and he commented on how this was the true meaning of Easter, new life...I actually got all teary eyed...it hit home because it's something that my Uncle Rob always does (blesses the baby and talks about new life...) anyhow, Colin is napping, I think Daddy is napping, and I have time to read the Sunday paper! Then off to Grammy's house for dinner...we hope all of our family and friends have a very special Easter with their loved ones!

We did it! We managed to pull off a surprise dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant to celebrate Auntie Beth's big 4oth birthday...she was quite surprised especially since we had such a great turnout - 12 ladies in all, celebrating with delicious margarita's (that's what they told me, my virgin strawberry colada margarita was as good as can be), lots of laughs, and even a pink sombrero! Happy Birthday Auntie Beth!

Another First!

Today we took Colin to his first real movie...we saw Horton Hears A Who...Colin loved every minute of it. He walked into the theater and the look on his face was priceless, you would have thought he was in Disney or something. He is a HUGE Dr. Seuss fan, so it was great that this was his first movie. He sat in his own seat for the entire thing, ate his goldfish, and just stared at the big screen...until about 5 minutes left and he snuggled his way into Daddy's lap...it was a very cute movie, just enough time, and another "first" to add to the list!

Night #2

It went well...naptime yesterday was short, but he stayed in the bed...last night he slept through...we are doomed for #2, you can't get this lucky with sleep twice in a row - right??? I had to wake him up this morning for daycare and he was just laying there, he opened his eyes, says "hi mommy", sits up, and then says "oooh, basketballs" as he points to the sheets...I should write a letter to the sheet company thanking them :)...I said "Colin I am so proud of you sleeping in the big bed all night"...and he points at the crib and says "the baby sleeps there"...in a way my heart broke, that was "his" crib...and we took it away! On the baby front, I now am going for weekly non stress tests, I meet with my regular OB every other week, and I now have to meet with the high risk OB weekly for Level 2 u/s and checks, my amniotic fluid levels are still high, but the kidneys, bladder, and swallowing look Ok, so the doctor can't quite figure it out, just wants to watch me more closely in case the levels keep going up...so lots of doctors for the next ten weeks or so, today the baby measured at 4 pounds - whoah! I should start taking bets on the size!

Who Slept Like a Rock?

Not Mommy of course, but Colin sure did...he went down at his usual time and was quiet all night, woke at 7:15 (really 6:15, hate the time change!)...it was great, however I kept waking up thinking I should go check on him, but didn't want to in case I woke him up...then I had a dream and in the dream there was a loud noise, so I woke up confused if the noise was real or not, I thought "what if he fell out onto the wooden step stool??? So anyways, it may be a fluke and he may refuse it today, but we'll see!

Our "Big Boy"

Wow it feels like yesterday that we were transitioning Colin from the bassinet to his crib for the first time, all swaddled in his much loved swaddle blankets like a litte burrito...well, our little guy is now sleeping in his "big boy bed"...oh, the emotions running through me right now! We decided to finally try it this weekend, we have been talking about it for about a month and talking about it with him for about a week. I went out and got some new sheets which he loved (sports of course!) and we put them on the bed last night. He was very excited about all the baseballs, footballs, and even soccer balls! So today we tried a nap...well about 3 hours later I had to wake him up! He did great so we just put him down for the night in the "big boy bed"...I can't believe it, this and peeing in the potty three times this week before his tub, where did the time go???????

Getting ready for my nap (of course "mama's" and blankies are there too!)...he doesn't sleep with a blanket over him in his crib so for now he's just laying on the mattress with the bottom sheet, I figure if all goes well, we'll try a blanket

Look What I Made!

The highlight of our weekend was going to "Enchanted" - a new paint your own plaster pieces place just opened yesterday. A friend of the family started the business and we had a blast and will definitely be back! It was great...if you can't tell Colin made his very own green, blue, pink, and red Pooh Bear that had purple and silver sparkles (or sprinkles as he likes to call them!)...he was so proud and he loved every minute!

Good News!

Ryan and I met with the high risk OB and all is well. We had a level 2 ultrasound first and then he reviewed the pics, came in and met with us and did his own ultrasound. He said basically this is something that is ideopathic (no real cause for why it happened - the 2 vessels) and that at this point all organs and systems look to be functioning normal. He checked the swallowing, the kidneys, the stomach, heart, etc...the baby is BIG which they can't pinpoint why, it just is. Today it measured 3 pounds 6 ounces - whoah! My amniotic fluid levels were slightly on the high normal side, but just one number over what they should be so that's good. So he said " more than likely you won't be having another 6 pound baby" we laughed...so we'll see what happens. I will be seen again in 2 weeks and they will do another level 2 just to make sure that nothing has changed. The coolest thing was that we got one 3 - D shot of the baby, it looks just like Colin when he was born, it is amazing! Still don't know the sex, and the tech actually said she couldn't really see when she was in that area because the baby was so active...thanks for thinking of us everyone - it helped!

Ready for Spring!

After spending yesterday watching the snow fall we were able to get out and enjoy the crisp, cool day. Colin and Daddy enjoyed making and throwing snowballs at Mommy - that little 2 year old has good aim! And being 7 months pregnant it's sort of tough to get out of the way, I am a pretty easy target at this point! This past week Colin had a cold which unfortunately developed into an ear infection. We went to the ENT at the beginning of the month and learned that one of the tubes had fallen out (yes, pretty early) and of course what happens with his next cold - yes, an ear infection! So we'll see what the ENT has to say...ughh! Spring come soon! We also had a follow up Friday with the surgeon and the hernia repair has healed and we don't have to go back which is great...Tomorrow Mommy has a check up with her OB...I definitely feel quite huge! We were all eating lunch today and it hit me that we only have like 10 weeks to go (give or take 2 weeks)...We don't have much to do, but that's still not much time...how exciting! Here is the latest on the baby - I found out a few weeks ago after my repeat ultrasound that the umbilical cord only has 2 vessels not three (single umbilical artery) so this Tuesday Ryan and I will be visiting with a high risk OB to have a level 2 ultrasound done and to consult with him as to what all this means. There is a lot of information online which is sometimes not the best thing, but it may explain why the baby is measuring larger than average and my amniotic fluid levels are on the high normal side...There also can be comorbid conditions that go along with it - kidney problems, cardiac problems, other conditions such as cleft palate, etc...and it could be nothing! I will have to be followed closely with ultrasounds and non stress tests throughout the last trimester which is all I know at this point...so we'll keep you all updated, I am sure everything will be OK in the end :) I have been doing exceptionally OK for me (someone who is quite the worrier and doesn't always do so well with stressful situations)...a really good friend of mine gave me some very good advice and a very special prayer for expectant moms that I have been trying to keep in the forefront of my mind - a big hug to her!

Blogging Slacker!

So I have been a blogging slacker...we have been busy, especially with doctor's appointments, work, etc...no excuses I guess! I had a wonderful weekend with my college friends in Boston a few weekends ago. We were able to catch up, enjoy some shopping, and good food, we had a blast and I feel very lucky to have all those ladies in my life...thanks guys! Under 100 days left until the new baby arrives. We had another ultrasound tonight and got some good shots, it loves to have its hands up by its head and mouth which was very cute to watch. From the measurements we got tonight, the technician said 2 lbs. 10 oz. which is slightly larger than what the books say, but I will wait to hear from my OB before I jump to any conclusions...I don't have gestational diabetes which is good, so looks like we'll just have a LARGE baby! Colin came with us and did great...he liked seeing the baby on the monitor, however I don't think he had any idea what he was looking at. I think he thought it was more interesting watching Mommy lay on the bed with a big belly sticking up in the air! He has been doing fanstastic, growing into such a big boy - boy being the important word...football, baseball, basketball -we can't wait for spring! Hopefully this winter won't last too much longer...promise to post pics soon!

Another Trip to the Hospital

Thankfully not for any of us, but I did just return from taking my sister home from the emergency room where she was treated for a broken wrist...she and her husband and two kids were ice skating at the local rink and she fell, ambulance and all, pretty good radial fracture I guess and she is going to see the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. Thank goodness it wasn't her head...I went to the hospital so her husband could get the kids from Ryan and let their dog out...they set it there and she was in a lot of pain, makes me never, ever want to break a bone (Shelby she actually mentioned you and thought about how much pain you must have been in...)...other than that very quiet and relaxing weekend...Colin is back to himself, running, playing, etc...hopefully no more hospitals!

Colin is doing fantastic...we rested all day yesterday (Mom and Dad included) and he ate lots of popsicles and even managed some toast and soup for dinner. He was exhausted and went right down to bed. I slept in the room with him and around 9:00 we gave him some heavy duty tylenol and I didn't hear from him until around 3:00. He was really tossing and turning, not crying, but that is just about when the medicine would have been wearing off so I gave him regular tylenol and he slept until about 7:00...we did "quiet" activities today, lots of books, painting, sticker books, etc. and of course TV which can certainly be a lifesaver sometimes :)...He ate a huge breakfast, poor little guy must have been starving and has done just great. He even wanted to ride his bike and play football, so I am assuming he is not in any pain, and he's been on consistent doses of tylenol every 4 hours. It's amazing how resilient kids are...and I am so grateful that it was just a little hernia, after spending time in the waiting area with other families, one couple from California whose little baby girl was undergoing cardiac surgery and was on a heart and lung machine, I am just so grateful it was what it was and that he is doing so well. Hopefully it stays that way!

Colin did great...We got up early and told Colin we had to go to the doctors, so he quickly said he wanted to bring his doctors kit, so cute! We arrived at Children's in Boston and the whole process went really smooth. We registered and about 15 minutes later we were in pre-op. This was the worst part, he hated the undressing, the blood pressure cuff on his leg, and the ID bracelet. He screamed and cried and we felt horrible for him...It was great though because we had our own personal TV and Sesame Street was a great distraction. Then we met with the surgeon and the anesthesiologist. At this point I am ready to lose it because I know it's time. Ryan was a saint and took him in. I gave him a big hug and a kiss, tried not to breakdown in front of him, and Ryan walked away with the surgery team. The anesthesiologist assistant was left behind and grabbed my hand and said, "try and go get something to eat and we are going to take good care of your son" just what I needed to hear....which they did....everyone was so great and clearly they deal with children and parents all the time and it shows...Ryan said this time with the anesthesia went much smoother, he didn't fight it and there were no gurgling sounds, they slyly got the mask onto his face and as he became drowsy they put him on the table. They didn't have to intubate, just IV and a tube that went down close to his larynx I think...Ryan and I grabbed some food (since we couldn't eat before hand because we felt guilty because Colin couldn't)...then we waited...he was in surgery for exactly the time they told us he would be which was great. A small hernia repaired, no complications, all went well. We waited another 10 minutes and then met him in the recovery room where a really nice nurse was cuddling him in a rocking chair. They were quick to put him in my arms where he quickly fell asleep. They let him sleep for about 1/2 hour, then woke him up, took out his IV, and we got dressed and left...He was kind of out of it for a few hours, but did manage to have a popsicle when we got home. Lots of movies and TV for the rest of the day and the funniest thing is that he tried a couple of times to get up and walk around (almost like he was ansy and just needed to get up), but he walked like he had a few too many....he ate some toast and soup for dinner which was great and has kept it down which is even better...in addition to the anesthesis he had morphine and a local block to the surgery site so they said he should be comfortable today with just additional tylenol, but we will probably give him some tylenol with codiene later on...He is watching the Grinch right now (one of his favorites) and then off to bed. We are grateful to everyone at the hospital, they made the whole experience so much easier...thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers, we love you all...

So far surgery is scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow morning...I spoke with the anesthesiologist fellow on call last night and she said based on the fact that all he had was a stuffy nose she would proceed. After speaking to the surgery nurse today, she said to go ahead and come in and he will be evaluated at the hospital anyway. So my stomach's in a knot, wish I could have a glass of wine, and if I talk about it I will cry...so I will keep everyone posted...keep the little guy in your prayers!

Family and Friends

We had a somewhat busy, yet great weekend...Friday Shelby and Charlotte came over to play. We had a great time and the kids played great together, very cute! Friday night Ryan and I went out for our much anticipated annual family dinner with our Uncle Rob. This year was most special since he has been sick. We had a great time, lots of yummy food, lots of good wine (for those that could enjoy it), and lots and lots of laughs...a couple of tears shed, but overall it was fantastic and will be something that we will all remember and hold close in our hearts. Saturday I spent having my glucose tolerance test done and some errands while Ryan and Colin stayed in...unfortunately Colin has a bit of a head cold, stuffy and at times runny nose, which puts the hernia surgery that is scheduled for this Wednesday up in the air. We'll probably talk with the surgeon's office tomorrow and have a better idea then. Very frustrating! But at least he doesn't have a clue what's going on...Saturday night I celebrated my niece Casey's 7th birthday and spent some time with their new little yellow lab (looks just like the Cottonelle dog, so cute!)...and lastly we spent Sunday cooped up, trying to stay germ and cold free, and happy to see the Pats pull of a big win!!!!

Off to A Pretty Good Start!

So far the new year has been OK. With the exception of a nasty 24 hour stomach virus that hit me last weekend (not really fun when you are 5 months pregnant) the new year has been going OK. It's hard to believe it's already January 11 and with the weather we had this past week it felt more like March or April! I had my monthly doctor's appt. this week and the results of my ultrasound done a while back were normal with the exception that the baby is measuring large (I think in the 90th percentile) and I have normal amniotic fluid levels, although they are on the high end of normal...so I will have my glucose tolerance test a little early, just have to get to the lab when I can spend about an hour, and I will have another ultrasound at 26 weeks (beginning of February). My OB said it's no cause for real concern just yet, since an ultrasound is a lab test and there is a room for error and the best thing to do is just follow me with ultrasounds and do my sugar test early. Of course my little mind has already gone to probably every extreme there is and I have been on the internet which is worst thing you can do! Otherwise I feel great and the baby is really moving around...Hope everyone's new year is off to a great start...Hopefully we'll get some pictures this weekend...it's Grampy's 70th birthday!

Colin was definitely the party animal of the family this New Year's! He had a great time with his cousins and Mommy really enjoyed the Chinese food and her caffeine free Pepsi! We have so much to look forward to in the new year, especially the arrival of the new little one...already half way there...We hope all of our family and friends have a very happy, healthy, and enjoyable new year - love to all!

He sure did!!!! The look on Colin's face was priceless when he saw the bag of DD's and lollipops on the table next to the empty cookie plate and milk cup ( I had to recreate the scene for the picture since Ryan and I got a new camcorder for Christmas I was too wrapped up in that and didn't take pictures when we got up)...Let's just say about 5 munchkins and three lollipops were eaten before 9:00 a.m. Luckily Colin slept until about 7:30! We had a great day. This is actually the third year we have spent the day at home, just the three of us (soon to be four!) We had a great, relaxing, and fun day spent playing with toys and eating yummy food! We hope all of our friends and family had a very special day with their loved ones...we sure did!

Christmas Eve

We began Christmas Eve actually Sunday afternoon. We spent the afternoon with my Uncle Rob at his house and had a pre-Christmas mass. It was very special to have everyone there...Then Monday night we went Grammy and Grampy's. There are many traditions and it's hard to believe that Colin is the 5th grandchild to share in these traditions. The grandkids all get new pajamas and we all sit in the living room opening presents - youngest to oldest - which meant Colin got to go first! They all had a blast. The best was the search for Santa on the computer...the screams when they found the website and the even louder screams when they saw a glowing red light in the sky! Colin was up way too late, so were Mommy and Daddy, and the hope was that we would get some extra sleep time in the morning since it probably won't be that was on a Christmas morning for a long time!

Our Christmas festivities began Saturday night with a trip to Candia, New Hampshire to Charmingfare Farm to go on a Lighted Winter Wonderland sleigh ride. We got there just in time (or so we thought) and walked to the area where the sleigh would pick us up. Along the way there was hot chocolate, an indoor petting zoo, and a huge bonfire. Once we arrived to the sleigh area we realized we had to wait. The information posted on the website and the confirmation email was quite vague about the timing of the whole thing. Needless to say it was worth the wait! We learned what to do and what not to do for next year! We got on the sleigh and rode through the farm on trails and saw all sorts of lights. They had lighted houses, trees, characters and once the ride was done they dropped us off at Santa's baby reindeer barn, where we were greeted by Frosty and Santa and his real live baby reindeer. Now I must tell you that we have watched the Grinch movie (not the Jim Carrey version, but the original) every night for at least a month. Colin is slightly obsessed, so when I read online that one of the characters we might see on the sleigh ride was the Grinch I figured we have to go! Well after waiting a while, almost losing Colin to fatigue, we were lucky enough to see the Grinch. Let's just say he won Colin over way more than Santa and even jumped onto our sleigh...then jumped off and fell into the snow which Colin thought was hysterical! It was a great start to Christmas and really put us in the spirit!

Naughty or Nice?

Colin and I wrote his letter to Santa this afternoon...we are off on a "Lighted Winter Wonderland" sleigh ride and we hear Santa will be there with his two newest reindeer collecting letters...Not sure if you can see in the picture, but Colin would like Santa to bring him"Dunkin Donuts and Lollipops"!!!!! We'll have to see what Santa can do.....:):):)

Let It Snow!

Colin and I had a great time today playing in the snow! He loved it, which I was surprised by, I thought he would be whining after 5 minutes, but he lasted about 45! We even built a snowman (check out the baby carrot nose and the quarters for eyes!). Good Ol' New England...it took my brother in law 6 hours to get home from Brighton last night! And more to come this weekend!

Here's a couple of funny stories that happened today...Ryan, Colin, and I were sitting on the couch tonight reading a story before bed. All of a sudden Colin says "see Mommy's belly" as he pulls up my t-shirt. For a while now we have been telling him that there is a baby growing in my belly, but when asked what's in there he says "Daddy" (weird, huh!)., and he has never asked to see my expanding waistline! So tonight we corrected him and said "it's the baby growing in there Colin". Immediately the response was, quite clearly I might add, "No Baby" as he quickly pulled my shirt back down (like he was closing a door)! It was hysterical! Earlier we were sitting in the living room and his 2 piggy banks were on the coffee table. One is small and says "Baby's First Piggy Bank" and had been quiteld full, so Colin transferred his "monies" into a larger piggy bank the other day. So I said to him while holding the empty smaller bank, "Colin should we give this one to the new baby?" He looked right at me and said firmly "No, Colin's"...Hmmm, I wonder what we are in store for?????

Tis' the Season

The weekend was spent doing holiday "stuff"...decorating and getting the tree up. It was nice since we weren't worrying about the surgery (now scheduled for January 23). Colin's reaction to the tree was cute "wow, Chrismas twee"...even this morning at 5:45 when he woke up - "wow, Chrismas twee"...today I went to a performance of the Albany Berkshire Ballet Theater's Nutcracker that my two nieces were in...Maddy was a party girl and Casey was one of the little children that come out of Mother Ginger's huge skirt! It's funny, Ryan and I took Maddy to her first Nutcracker in Boston when she was three and now she is dancing in her own performance! We're hoping she'll be Clara next year! I think next year Colin might be able to handle it. They have been rehearsing since the beginning of October and you could tell, it was a fantastic show. When I got home we decorated the tree. Colin was in a bit of a mood, but he did manage to put up his new Sesame Street ornaments. I love putting up the ornaments, we have one that I made in kindergarten that Ryan always makes fun of and we have one of Ryan's when he was little too. They seem to all have meaning of one event or place we have visited. It's great! Now Colin's in bed, Daddy's watching football and I am off to have ice cream!!!!

Since Colin has had an upper respiratory infection and is still coughing somewhat the anesthesiologists are postponing he surgery for at least 2 weeks! We'll see what happens...

Not only is Mommy enjoying her ice cream this time around, but Colin is too! A special treat! It was so funny to watch him eat it. First, concentration, then pure joy! I feel that way too when I have my nightly bowl! Colin's been fighting this upper respiratory infection for like 2 1/2 weeks now...we had already been to the pediatrician and they gave him an antibiotic after a couple of more days of a horrendous cough that was keeping him up at night...finished that on Sunday and guess what the runny nose was back Monday and then last night he spiked a 102 degree temperature...no Motrin because he is supposed to have surgery Monday, but the tylenol helped and it was about 101 this morning, so off to the pediatrician again this afternoon - red throat, did a strep test (-), just viral and we are to treat the symptoms...let's just pray that his little body can fight it off before Monday...I don't want to have surgery any closer to the holidays!

That's what time my sister and I hit the stores today to begin our Christmas shopping. Now I have never done the whole "Black Friday" thing, but it was quite thrilling! I definitely got a high and we both decided to make it an annual tradition! It felt good to get a start since December weekends always book up fast and with Colin's surgery and all...so let the season begin!!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our family and friends! Today I really tried to reflect on how much we have to be thankful for and again realized how very lucky we are...we spent the day at my parents and thankfully my Uncle Rob could be there after having chemo on Tuesday. He sure was a trooper! It was somewhat bittersweet as this could be the last Thanksgiving we spend with him, but it was a very happy day too because he was with us and actually ate some turkey! All in all a great day and a very special time for our family! Love to all!

Today is our third anniversary - Ryan if you read this, Happy Anniversary and thank you for making me so happy! Feels like yesterday we were in Portland celebrating...now almost 2 kids later - whoah! We did get to go out for a nice Italian dinner Saturday night to celebrate - Ryan with his dirty vodka martini and me with my ginger ale! Also we went for a check up today - all is well, except for the continued naseau and vomiting and horrible headaches :(:(:(...hopefully that will change soon! I'm thinking a girl!!!!!!

We traveled to a Children's Hospital clinic this morning and met with the surgeon who we liked very much and so did Colin! She explained that yes he does have a hernia on one side, yes it needs to be repaired surgically, and yes that means general anesthesia again...she is only repairing one side, it's day surgery, and it's a fairly quick procedure (1-1/2 hours)...After seeing parents with their kids today carrying files upon files of medical records, I kept telling myself it's a routine procedure, it's just a hernia, and we are very lucky it's nothing more serious or chronic!

Hmmm...what does all that mean??? Well, you may have guessed - Colin is going to be a big brother! Right now the due date is May 16th...all is well and hopefully will continue to go well! This pregnancy has been different from Colin's right from the start. The morning sickness was different, the cravings have been different (all I want are salty cold cuts, which I have to limit myself with), and I have a little bulge quite earlier than I did with Colin (2nd pregnancy I guess!)...maybe all that means a little girl is growing inside there???????

After a trip to the doctor's for his 2 year check up on Friday (where they discovered he may have a possible hernia and we have to see a pediatric surgeon on November 9!), we celebrated Colin's birthday on Saturday and had a party for him at our house...all of his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends were able to make it...he had a blast and has been on this birthday kick since Wednesday when we sent in cupcakes to daycare. He has been singing "Happy Birthday" at least twice a day since then and even today (and as I write) he has been singing it. So cute! He was quite overtired and had a sugar high and thankfully took an almost 4 hour nap today which brought the Colin we know and love back! Today was spent indoors watching football and playing with the many toys that everyone so generously gave him - we love you all - thank you! And once again I feel so blessed to have such loving and caring friends and family in my life, it makes the joy of celebrating a special event that much more special! Enjoy the pictures!

Can't believe it - 2 years old! What an amazing 2 years it has been...we are soooooooo lucky (can't emphasize the so enough). He had a very busy, but fun day with Grammy and Grampy, and then more fun when Mommy came home from work...the more I think about it, the title of this blog fits...time does fly and it's true - treasure each and every day with your loved ones...we love you Sweetie Pie! Saturday we went to our first Sesame Street Live show..."When Elmo Grows Up"...it was fantastic and Colin's expression when Big Bird popped out from behind the curtain put me into tears - just pure joy, happiness, and complete awe! We had a great time, Colin did great for about 95% of the show (he lost a little bit of attention with about 15 minutes to go), and it was definitely an event to remember!

What could be better??? Especially for an almost 2 year old boy??? This weekend started with Colin's cousin Sydney's birthday party which included both a bouncy house and a Hoodsie Cup - Colin is still deciding which was his favorite. I was helping by handing out spoons to all the kids and there's Colin sitting at the birthday table trying desperately to open the ice cream container. He was using his teeth, trying to pull at it with his hands, but he just couldn't do it...then I helped and he was in heaven! I don't think he cared much about the High School Musical birthday cake (yes, that was the theme!)...he just looked so big, sitting at the table with all the "big" kids...the bouncy house was a hit, except that the birthday girl got stung by a bee for the first time in her life at 1:00 exactly just as the first guests were arriving. It turned out OK though! Then, on Monday we hit the Topsfield Fair with Daddy and Nana. We thought we would be smart by going on a Monday morning, beat the crowds...well we were wrong, it was Senior Citizens Day which meant dodging a ton of wheelchairs, but we had a blast, Colin absolutely loved it! He still can't decide if sitting on the tractors or petting the sheep were his favorite (don't worry Michael and Shelby we had a face mask for him!)...anyhow another great fall weekend, and hard to believe that in 23 days he'll be "2"!!!

Apple Picking!

We spent Saturday apple picking with our good friends the Millers. It was a great time. Nathan and Colin loved picking (and eating!) the apples, and Colin quickly learned that we pick the apples from the trees not the ground :)...in his words while pointing to the ground "apples, yucky, no eat"! We saw the animals, played on the playground, and had lunch...and best of all had some yummy cider donuts! We ran out of time, so we have to go back to pick our pumpkins and for a hayride on the tractor...We love fall! This weekend will be a trip to the annual Topsfield Fair!

This Saturday Colin and Mommy went to my brother's police department's "Family Fun Day"...it was great, despite the extreme heat! Colin loved the SWAT team truck and the cool ATV's they had. He could even climb inside the truck, but the seat on the ATV was just too hot to sit on...he loved his hot dog and chips and even got to throw some baseballs in the pitching machine game. We had a great time, but wished it could have been cooler for everyone, especially Uncle Michael who was a grilling machine! Thanks Uncle Michael for a great time!!!!
